The MGM film studio used Neoscorp’s communications network to transmit the special effects for its new James Bond film Die Another Day to the post-production studio. Film and television companies use the ethernet network of Sohonet, a Neoscorp subsidiary, to transmit images around the world. This cuts the time and cost of adding digital effects for blockbusters such as Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.
Neoscorp has raised more than £56m in venture capital from Young Associates, 3i and Dolphin Communication Partners. Sales at the Slough company grew 261% a year from an annualised £1.4m in 1999 to £17.7m in 2001, when it made significant losses, although it expects to be cashflow positive by mid-2003.
