Clinical academic Neil Meredith and technical expert Fredrik Engman set up Neoss from their kitchen table seven years ago. They developed a dental implant system that uses fewer than 100 components compared with other systems that typically have more than 1,000. The system is now sold to thousands of clinics and hospitals in Britain, Germany, Italy and America. The Harrogate company recently raised £10m from MMC Ventures and is also backed by Delta Partners and the medical technology company Medtronic. Sales increased 106% a year from £987,000 in 2004 to £4.2m in 2006.
