New Look is the most prominent public-to-private move of the year so far. In March shareholders approved founder Tom Singh’s bid of £699m that was backed by Permira and Apax, and the company left the London Stock Exchange in April. New Look is one of Britain’s largest women’s fashion retailers, with more than 500 outlets, and it runs 200 Mim stores in France. It had sales of £696m for the year to March 2004.
