Clothing retailer New Look has 600 outlets in this country, and more than 1,000 worldwide. Last year it served 355m customers through its New Look and Mim stores in Britain, Ireland, France, the Netherlands and Belgium, and via its websites. Sales were down slightly to £1,461m in the year to March 2011, due to a poor trading performance last Christmas. The firm’s private-equity owners brought in Alistair McGeorge, former chief executive of Matalan, as executive chairman in April 2011.
