Notonthehighstreet.com’s technology connects 5,000 creative small businesses – 90% of which are run by women – with online shoppers looking for unique products, ranging from artisan whiskeys to personalised jewellery. Founders Holly Tucker, 39, and Sophie Cornish, 51, pioneered a new retail model when they launched the online marketplace in 2006, and it has secured £33m from the likes of Index Ventures, 8 Roads and German media and technology business, Hubert Burda Media. Last year the firm appointed Simon Belsham, 37, as chief executive, and its latest £21m fundraising in August is being used to develop its technology further.
