This company was formed in spring 2007, when the private equity firm 3i sold part of National Car Parks to Macquarie, the Australian bank, but retained the traffic and transport services business. NSL Services says it is one of Britain’s biggest parking and traffic enforcement companies, providing services for 60 councils, as well as outsourced systems for processing fines. Its bus services in London and at Heathrow and Gatwick airports carry more than 5m passengers a year. Under chief executive Mark Underwood, sales in 2008 reached £156.6m.
