Jason Bannister used to store his stock in chicken sheds, but he now claims his company is Britain’s largest retailer of solid hardwood furniture, most of which he designs himself. Turnover has grown 51% a year, from £7.5m in 2007 to £25.9m in 2010, and a TV advertising campaign shows the Swindon firm’s ambition: it aims to have 25 showrooms open by 2013.
