Many young entrepreneurs have started companies at the age of 25, but few have made sales of £1m in their first year. This is exactly what Robert Leggett did with the help of a £30,000 overdraft from his bank. Omni IT, the company he founded in 1997, acts as an interface between clients – such as Diageo and Cornhill Insurance – and recruitment agencies. Sales have grown 92% a year from an annualised £778,000 in 1998 to £5.5m in 2001, when the Cheshire company employed 11 people.
