Sufyan Ismail, 37, formerly of Deloitte, founded the company in 2006 to enable clients to cut their tax bills by investing in commercial enterprises such as infrastructure projects. Customers of his Bolton company are typically referred to him by their accountants. Recent growth has come on the heels of these referrals and marketing. Firms of accountants do not usually have the means to create tax products, so they pass on clients to One E Tax in exchange for a commission. Ismail says its last product cost £1m to develop because of the expense of securing legal opinion from tax barristers to make sure it was legal.
