Founded in Manchester by Neil McArthur in 1995, Opal offers voice and data services primarily to businesses in the UK. Sales have risen 121% a year from £19m in 1999 to £92m in 2001. Opal merged with the fixed-line operations of Martin Dawes in 1999 and now has more than 20,000 business customers.
