Based in Reigate, Osborne could claim to be trouncing the opposition in environmentally-friendly construction and sustainability. Working with insulated panels, it has designed buildings that beat government carbon-emission targets by 40%. Current projects include improving facilities for the London School of Economics and building the Westbury bypass in Wiltshire. The family-owned firm, which is also active in the rail, affordable housing, health and highway sectors, last year hired chief executive Mark Heasman. Sales were £234.4m in 2006.
