More than 30,000 hotels, including those operated by chains such as Marriott, IHG, and Hilton, use this company’s real-time data services to help price rooms appropriately, forecast demand and review competition. University friends Gino Engels, Adriaan Coppens, and Matthias Geeroms, all aged 32, set up the business in 2012 when they observed that despite London being busy due to the Olympic Games, there was still a glut of hotel rooms. OTA Insight now operates from offices in the UK, Singapore, Sydney and the US, which helped drive sales to £6m in 2017. Last December, it raised $20m in a round led by Eight Roads Ventures. Under chief executive Sean Fitzpatrick, 45, it is exploring further growth in the US, which currently accounts for around 40% of sales.
