Laura Pagan’s lighting business had its beginnings in a modest city-centre shop she opened in 1980 but it now encompasses seven superstores, each offering 3,000 products. The range of value-for-money lighting products extends from £5 lamps to £1,500 chandeliers, mainly imported from China. Still run by Laura and husband Alan and headquartered in Glasgow, Pagazzi Lighting plans to open three new superstores a year and sell online. Increasing customer numbers and a £500,000 investment from Ashley Bank Investments have helped sales grow 81% a year from an annualised £944,000 in 2003 to £5.6m in 2006.
