Tim Connolly and Mark Smith left big management consultancies to found Partners for Change in 1994. The pair built the business by helping multinationals, such as Cable & Wireless and Glaxo Wellcome, adapt to changes caused by new IT systems. Management consultancy accounts for 95% of its business. The company has also developed a recruitment consultancy and taken a 50% stake in Eco Partners, a joint venture that advises companies on environmental concerns, such as using eco-friendly materials. Sales of the Middlesex company have increased 91% a year from £1.4m in 1997 to £9.4m in 2000, when it employed 43 staff.
