This online plant delivery service is a hit with millennials, who have bought 938,000 of its cacti, ferns and palms. Founded in 2015 by chief executive Freddie Blackett, 32, it also offers a “Plant Hotel” service, allowing buyers to leave their plants in the care of Patch employees for the duration of their holiday. It has raised a total of £8.3m including £2.4m in October last year on crowdfunding site Crowdcube, and £2.3m from Octopus Ventures in 2018. Sales grew from £929k in 2017 to £5.3m in 2019, and increased 500% during the first lockdown period.
