London-based Pentland manages clothing and sports-equipment brands such as Berghaus, Canterbury and Speedo. It designs the products for each brand, makes them or outsources their production, decides marketing strategy and handles distribution to retailers. It also owns a majority stake in JD Sports. It is owned by the founding Rubin family and chaired by Stephen Rubin, 77. His son Andy Rubin, 50, is chairman of Pentland Brands.
