Playdemic develops social video games for mobile devices. Its games include Gourmet ranch, Village Life, and Gang Nations. Since its launch, Playdemic’s games have been played by more than 40m players. The Cheshire-based company was founded in 2010 by serial entrepreneurs Paul Gouge, 38, and Alex Rigby, 40, who had together previously founded and sold other games businesses including Rockpool Games. Playdemic is backed by investors including the grandchildren of IBM’s founder Thomas Watson, and is chaired by Ian Livingstone, 64, the co-founder of Games Workshop and former chairman of video games maker Eidos. Sales doubled in 2013 to £4.4m.
