Founder Edward Webb was 24 years old when he set up his Wiltshire company with a £5,000 loan from the Prince’s Trust. A decade later, schoolchildren in 2,500 schools throughout Britain are enjoying outdoor fun on structures designed by Playforce. The company designs and installs made-to-order playground equipment, from swings, slides and timber trails to a new range of outdoor musical toys such as bongos and chimes. Sales have grown 63% a year from £1.5m in 2004 to £6.4m in 2007. Isis Equity Partners invested £7m for a 45% stake in the company in January.
