Plexus Cotton

This Merseyside cotton producer and trader has doubled sales in the past five years under founder Nick Earlam. Plexus handles all stages of cotton production – it supplies seed to growers, buys their product, gins it in its factories and stores the bales before selling them on to spinners. It also trades cotton futures on the financial markets. The company is an international concern, with trading offices and joint ventures as far afield as Uzbekistan, China and Brazil. Sales were £242.9m in 2006.
