Like many of his peers on this list, chief executive Paul Hayden of PMR Group has benefited from being in the right place at the right time. He launched his IT recruitment consultancy in 1991 with £30k of his own savings and £25k of his mother’s. PMR has blossomed as the skilled IT labour pool has been stretched thin and more recently as companies grapple with issues surrounding Year 2000 and EMU compliance. Still, it’s not all just good timing. PMR offers commission rates as high as 30% of salaries, with some recruitment consultants earning as much as £100k a year. PMR also boasts a democratic culture, with everyone commenting on potential hires and even voting on major decisions.
