Polestar claims to be Europe’s biggest independent printer, with a weekly output of 33m magazines, catalogues and corporate brochures. It has plants in Britain, Spain, Hungary and America, and a printing roster that includes the Radio Times, the Argos catalogue and national newspapers. In 2004, Polestar’s sales fell by £68m to £421m, which includes £36m of discontinued operations. Polestar was formed by the merger of Watmoughs and the British Printing Company in 1998, and is now owned by Investcorp.
