From the women’s magazine Cosmopolitan to The Sunday Times Magazine, academic publications, catalogues, labels and cartons, the Polestar Group prints an eclectic range of material. The Milton Keynes company was formed in 1998 by a merger and is now owned by Investcorp. Polestar uses 650,000 tonnes of paper and 32,000 tonnes of ink each year. It turned an operating loss of £6m into an operating profit of £27m on sales of £484m in 2002, when it had 5,771 staff.
