This Leicester company powers up commercial clients’ newly-built properties, designing and connecting the buildings’ electricity supply, and co-ordinating the installation of meters. Co-founded in 2003 by five engineering colleagues – Bernard Chudley, Andrew Springhall, Christopher Bean, Manj Thind and Mark Buckby – to take advantage of new regulations in the sector, the business says it offers a speedier alternative to the local utilities provider. With depots at Doncaster, Stafford and Tewkesbury, Power On Connections has completed 500 projects, including a £2.5m contract to connect electricity for the developer ProLogis. The company’s sales have grown 72% a year from an annualised £2.2m in 2004 to £11.1m in 2007.
