PPF

With the average age of a British lorry driver 56, and a shortage of new recruits, this company has cleaned up by recruiting drivers from eastern Europe. It kits them out with ADR blue overalls, trains them in transport law and sends them to work for customers such as J Sainsbury and DHL Express. With 13 offices in England and Wales and 900 drivers on its books, ADR has grown sales 86% a year from £2.4m in 2001 to £15.1m in 2004. The company was founded in 1997 by Keith Churchhouse, a former coach driver.
