Top Track 100

Premier Foods, owned by the American private-equity house HMTF, has a voracious appetite for some of Britain’s favourite tastes. In a deal reportedly worth £105m, it recently added Ambrosia and Brown & Polson to a larder that includes Typhoo, HP Beans, Hartley’s jams and Branston pickle. Sales totalled £890m in 2003, and the Ambrosia deal will add a further £60m this year. HMTF has reportedly appointed Merrill Lynch to float the company.
