Working exclusively in football and motor sport, this marketing consultancy sells sponsorship rights for the likes of Manchester United, Juventus and the Arrows Formula One team. It was founded by Jonathan Price in 1994 with £50,000 backing from a New Zealand entrepreneur. He started by selling team sponsorship deals for football clubs such as Leyton Orient and Aberdeen. In 1997 Manchester United appointed the firm to exploit the club’s sponsorship potential, working on deals with Sun Microsystems and Western Union, the money transfer company. Sales of the London firm have risen 130% a year from £493,000 in 1997 to £6m in 2000, when it had 14 staff. At the end of last year, Premiere Consultants was sold to WPP, the advertising giant.
