Guy Weaver and Peter Brazier remortgaged their houses to set up Premium Appliance Brands, a ‘virtual’ manufacturer of kitchen appliances such as ovens, hobs, dishwashers and fridge freezers. The Warrington company designs and sources competitively-priced ranges from manufacturers in Italy, Turkey and China, and sells them under its own brands, which include Cuisina, Homark and Eurolec. It recently bought the White Westinghouse and Cookers brands from the Bernstein Group, a move that helped to push up sales 64% a year from an annualised £2.6m in 2002 to £11.6m in 2005.
