Primal Pictures, founded by filmmaker Laurie Wiseman and computer graphics artist Chris Briscoe, aims to produce a “Gray’s Anatomy for the 21st century”. The firm has spent 10 years designing the world’s first 3D computer model of the human body. Skin and muscle can be stripped away layer by layer on the CD-Rom to reveal the workings of the body to surgeons and students alike. Sales of the package grew 76% a year from £516,000 in 1999 to £1.6m in 2001, when it made a big loss.
