Prime Time Recruitment’s first day in business was interrupted by a raid. Investigators, operating under a court order, searched for and found confidential material staff had taken from their previous employer. Although Prime Time’s new venture capital backer, Phildrew, picked up the fines, the raid made their first year difficult. Operating under strict orders not to contact any customers of the staff’s old employer, the company was forced to make new contacts. Salespeople called new and existing customers every day drumming up new business. Although forced on them, the strategy paid off. Sales grew from £4.6m in 1994 to £21.7m in 1997.
