Printbetter is the holding company behind the Moyne Roberts, Walker Fire, Apex Fire and Smeba Brandbeveiliging brands. The Lancashire group provides fire-protection equipment, including fire alarms, extinguishers and blankets, and services such as equipment installation and fire risk assessments. Founded in 1990 and run by brothers Andrew and David Cosgrove, 41 and 45, it sells to customers including Greggs, Dutch rail service firm NS, and the Ministry of Defence. Profits more than doubled from £2.7m in 2016 to £6.3m in 2019, helped by an increased focus on services. The company has 20 branches across the UK, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, and has grown in part through acquiring several competitors since 2000, most recently security firm Keyways, based in Greater Manchester, in 2020. The company is currently operating at reduced capacity for employee safety.
