Cassandra Stavrou, 32, and Ryan Kohn, 33, launched their gluten-free popcorn brand in 2011 with £30,000 in start-up funds from Ryan’s mother. Their ‘guilt-free’ snacks, whose flavours include Sweet Coconut & Vanilla and Smooth Peanut & Almond, are stocked by major retailers such as Tesco, Waitrose and Whole Foods, and are also exported to 14 countries. Sales rocketed more than 200% a year over three years to £9.5m in 2015, with turnover forecast to hit £13m this year. The London-based company plans to expand internationally after it secured a £7m investment in August from Piper Private Equity and the founders of Innocent Drinks.
