This company began in 2005 as Bath ASU, a spin-out from Bath University, led by co-founders Richard Wastnage, 51, Christopher Watt, 48, and Maria Watt, 47. It prepares specialist medicines individually tailored to patients’ needs, such as chemotherapy doses, and has developed what it says is the single biggest aseptic clean room in the UK. In 2010 the group launched sister business Pharmaxo, which provides traditional pharmacy and hi-tech homecare services. A reduction in available clean-room capacity in NHS hospitals has helped drive sales at the group, which reached £48.7m last year.
