Since reaching seventh place in last year’s Fast Track 100, Questus has been sold to the American telecoms services provider Wireless Facilities for £16m in cash and shares. The Surrey company, founded by Chris Buist in 1994, helps many of the world’s leading telecommunications network operators to enter new markets and launch new services, a business base that means 91% of its sales are overseas. According to Mike Ralph, managing director, the company is moving away from second-generation mobile-phone technology towards building an expertise in third- generation phones to keep the company at the cutting edge of its market. With offices in Stockholm and Vienna, Questus’s sales have increased 84% a year, from £761,000 in 1996 to £4.7m in 1999.
