Gayna Hart had worked as an IT consultant before setting up Quicksilva in 1999, using seed capital from her former employer, ASE. Quicksilva is an IT services business that designs software to help government departments and private companies manage customer databases, keep track of archived information, and ensure that systems are properly integrated. It also offers consultancy services. Government departments account for over half of the company’s sales, which have grown 90% a year from an annualised £352,000 in 2001 to £1.3m in 2003.
