Gavin Nicholson’s first entrepreneurial venture was a franchise for a Cyberia internet café in Edinburgh. He then changed tack and set up Realise in 1995 to develop websites for the likes of Schroders and Standard Life. His sales increased 83% a year, from £370,000 in 1998 to £1.2m in 2000.
