Not content with expanding into mainland Europe, accountant Mike Pickles is now shipping his range of 33 stacking boxes across the Atlantic. The containers were developed when Pickles failed to find a transparent storage box for his archive records. They are mostly sold to office users, but are also used in the film and television industry to transport cabling. The West Yorkshire company’s boxes are priced at up to £18 each and are sold in Britain through retailers such as Staples, WH Smith, Ryman and Viking Direct. Its sales grew 70% a year from £2.6m in 2004 to £12.7m in 2007.
