In June last year the Reed family launched a bid that took Reed Executive off the London Stock Exchange. The recruitment company was founded by Alec Reed in 1960 and floated in 1971. It is now run by Reed’s son James and operates 300 branches offering thousands of jobs across a wide range of industries. Sales, which include the wages of temporary workers placed by the company, totalled £402m in 2003.
