Quentin Stott, 47, and Simon Dawson, 39, founded Reflex Gaming in 2004 to develop and produce fruit machines for the pub, club, arcade and bingo hall markets. Three years later, changes in UK gambling laws saw production drop from 50 to 5 machines a week. The Newark-based company responded by developing its own fruit machine games and changing how it incentivised operators. As a result, sales reached £14.2m in 2014, and the company last year supplied about 50% of the UK market, selling 6,000 machines. Its games are also now available as mobile-phone apps.
