The beauty industry veterans Adam Minto, 49, and Tom Allsworth, 54, wanted to make high-quality make-up more affordable. The joint chief executives launched their first product in 2014, and, with its reasonable prices — lipsticks and eyeshadows start at £1 — and certified cruelty-free products, the Kent-based brand quickly became a bestseller in Superdrug. It sold a minority stake to TSG Consumer Partners in 2017 and has since partnered with Superdrug’s parent company, the Hong Kong-based AS Watson, to sell through retailers in Germany, Turkey and, most recently, Australia. Revolution Beauty also has concessions in America, and with the help of influencers promoting the brand on social media, enjoyed sales of £112.6m last year.
