The aptly named Road Angel uses GPS technology to improve driver safety. Its key products are dashboard devices that alert drivers to speed cameras or accident blackspots. Based at Silverstone, Road Angel was founded by Joe Eagle and Dave Clark. Though the latter was a racing driver, the firm claims its technology has helped to cut speeding offences by up to 74%. The business is now headed by chief executive Steven Salmon, who led a management buyout last year. Sales have soared 160% a year from £2.5m in 2003 to £17.1m in 2005.
