After Granada’s hostile takeover of the Forte company in 1996, Sir Rocco Forte, 68 – son of the original group’s founder – established a new business, Rocco Forte Hotels. It has 11 luxury properties in the UK, Europe and Russia, generating sales of £130.7m in 2012 from overseas visitors, and plans to open hotels in Marrakesh, Jeddah, Cairo and Luxor.
