R&R Ice Cream claims to be Britain’s largest independent ice-cream maker, with brands including Kelly’s of Cornwall and Skinny Cow. It also distributes Nestlé and Mars ice-cream products and makes products for Aldi, M&S and Tesco. Having taken over Nestlé UK’s ice-cream division in May 2006, Richmond Foods was taken private in a £182m deal backed by Oaktree Capital, and later merged with Germany’s Roncadin to form R&R Ice Cream. Chief executive James Lambert oversaw sales of £367.6m in 2009.
