This North Yorkshire firm launched 21 new products for the past summer, claiming to be Britain’s largest independent ice-cream maker and the third largest in Europe. It says it holds a 26% share of the British market with brands including Nobbly Bobbly, Toffee Crumble, Milkybar and Orange Maid. In May 2006, having taken over Nestlé UK’s ice-cream business, Richmond Foods was taken private in a £182m deal backed by Oaktree Capital. The latter merged Richmond with Roncadin, a German ice-cream maker. In 2007, chief executive James Lambert oversaw sales reaching £298.7m.
