Ginsters pasties were supplied free of charge to frontline workers and Soreen malt loaves to NHS hospitals by the group behind both brands. Samworth’s other businesses include West Cornwall Pasty Co, which like other food chains was forced to close its outlets in March, and it makes a significant slice of the UK’s Melton Mowbray pork pies. Staff involved in food production were designated key workers, and the family-owned group also lent its support to food banks during the pandemic. It was founded by livestock trader George Samworth in 1896 and is now led by chief executive Flor Healy, 58.
