In 1953, five years after starting up as a service station in Nottingham, Sandicliffe became a Ford car dealer. It now employs 612 staff at 12 East Midlands dealerships, and still sells new and used Ford vehicles in addition to Mazda, Suzuki and Kia. In 1974 its Nottingham dealership was awarded a royal warrant by the Queen. Still owned by the founding Barton and Woodhouse families, group sales were £172.7m in 2010 under chairman Andrew Woodhouse and managing director Reg Tutt.
