Anyone who plays a lottery or withdraws money from a cash machine could be benefiting from Sarian Systems’ products. The company designs and manufactures routers used to process and send data from lottery terminals and cash machines, and to transfer point-of-sale information from retailers’ outlets. Co-founded by Andy Hood and Robin Hudson, the company is based in Ilkley in West Yorkshire and has clients in more than 70 countries. They include Fujitsu, BP and BT. Demand for high-speed wireless routers and increasing business from eastern Europe have boosted the company’s sales 60% a year from £1.3m in 2003 to £3.3m in 2005.
