If you are looking for a sophisticated electronic control system that can survive a battering from a 70ft wave, a hurricane or an avalanche, Scotland Electronics is the place to go. The company was founded by Michael Ramsay and supplies operators from the North Sea to the Arctic Circle. Based at Forres, Moray, the firm has raised its sales 90% a year, from £409,000 in 1998 to £1.5m in 2000. “Now we are going after the final frontier,” says Ramsay. “We are looking at space technology through a link-up with Nasa or the European Space Agency.”
