This Scottish group’s specialist leathers have been used to upholster seats in the Houses of Parliament and to trim the interiors of iconic cars such as the Aston Martin V8 and DeLorean DMC-12. It also makes the high-performance leather used on the seats of more than 160 airlines. Despite a drop in turnover last year, profits more than tripled to £8.1m after the firm reduced distribution costs by £1.3m and focused on higher-margin work. Chief executive Iain McFadyen, 58, is leading a £10m investment to increase production across all three of its sites in the west of Scotland.
