When this watch and jewellery retailer set up its online boutique Watchshop.com, it revolutionised its sales. Founded in 1991 by former school inspector Sham Naib, the company started out with one store in Reading. Sham’s son, Kishore, launched Watchshop.com in 2007, giving the firm a strong internet presence. SDK now claims to sell more than 100,000 watches a year and says a snappy trade name and focus on customer service have aided sales growth of 68% a year, from an annualised £1.8m in 2008 to £8.6m in 2011.
