The summer floods have proved good business for this Ipswich engineering group. Its main subsidiary, Jackson Civil Engineering, has picked up a four-year coastal defences and flood-alleviation contract with the Environment Agency, expected to deliver some £500m worth of flood protection in England and Wales. The East Anglian group’s interests span road building, housebuilding and plant hire. It has also just completed the £2m acquisition of BAC Windows & Doors to complement its existing PVC window manufacturing business. The company’s sales have grown 61% a year from £30.9m in 2003 to £129.5m in 2006 and more acquisitions are planned.
